It is a great way to get to know your neighbors while  strengthening neighborhood spirit and police community relations. This is a free event for all Atherton residents!

Mosquito & Vector Control Services

A lot has changed in the last century in mosquito control. with a better understanding of mosquito biology and the environment, modern mosquito management methods focus on preventing problems before they occur.

Today, the District controls mosquitoes through a program of integrated vector management, combining surveillance with physical, biological, and chemical control methods. This program focuses on controlling mosquitoes in their aquatic larval stages, which has many benefits including lower toxicity, less pesticide use and less disease risk.

Control of mosquitoes by the District is conducted only by stat-certified vector control technicians. For further information about the services offered by the District click here.

Be Aware of Scammers

Yesterday, the Town received a call from a Lloyden Park resident who was contacted by an individual claiming to be a PG&E representative. The caller indicated that they needed to gain access to the homeowners property to check the PG&E "box".

Staff followed up with PG&E who indicated that they do not do cold calls. They would not call to request “checking” a PG&E “box”
They would be more specific with what they need to check (gas meter, electricity box, etc.) and typically organize the same for an entire neighborhood to include an automated phone call to the area. If PG&E needed access to a meter or a box that was behind the homeowners gate the automated call would be followed by door hangers and letters.

If you didn't get a chance to check out Chief Flint's message on how to prevent scams you can do so here. The article provides a list of questionable tactics a consumer should be on guard against.
