Earth Action Fair & Student Challenge

Atherton is hosting a town-wide celebration of Earth Day with a series of events and activities. The series will kick-off (tentatively) on Thursday, May 19th, with a Film Screening of Robert Stone's environmental classic, Pandora's Promise, followed by a Q&A with one of the movie's stars.

The Atherton 2020 Earth Action Fair, with showcase of Student Challenge Presentations, will be held on Sunday May 22nd, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, featuring exhibitors representing local businesses, non-profit organizations, agencies and artists, along with a number of town committees presenting their work.  There will be music, food, entertainment for children and some special activities for residents.

The Student Environmental Challenge aims to engage area students in a competition that inspires them to learn about an environmental topic and prepare a visual presentation that will inform the community about that topic.  The student presentations will be showcased at the fair and the community will have an opportunity to view them, talk about them with the students directly, and vote on their favorite presentations to win prizes.

For more information about the challenge visit the Earth Action Fair & Student Environmental Challenge webpage.

Apply for a Town Committee

The voluntary participation of Atherton's citizens in the operation of the Town government is critical to the City Council's and the Town staff's success in serving the community. The City Council has established several citizen advisory bodies composed mainly of volunteers. Volunteers to specific bodies are appointed by the City Council and charged with the responsibilities of gathering, synthesizing, and analyzing the information relevant to their areas of responsibility and providing the City Council and Town staff with advice and recommendations. The Council and staff rely on this advice for the development and execution of Town policies.

The Town is now accepting applications until Friday, April 8, 2016 for Committees and Commissions.

To fill out an application you can click here or you can contact Judi Herren at or 650-752-0585.

Atherton's Operating Budget

Please provide your input on the Town's operating (admin, police, public works, community development) and capital (streets, Park, lights, bicycle/pedestrian, facilities) budgets.

March Meeting

Civic Center Designs

March 21 Community Meeting Follow Up

Overall, the Town received positive feedback about the design plans from those that were in attendance (100+).

The Civic Center Advisory Committee will meet at their regular meeting on April 4 to incorporate any additional feedback from Monday night’s meeting and make a final recommendation to the City Council.
After acceptance of Schematic Design, WRNS will move to the next design phase, Design Development. During Design Development, WRNS will further refine the interior and exterior of the designs.

We look forward to the next step in creating a place where our public safety, town administration, building department and public works staff will be able to work in clean, efficient and well-designed spaces; and a place for our residents to meet other residents for community events at the new library and the outdoor community spaces for a cup of coffee.

A place we will be proud of for generations to come!
