"Shop with a Cop" Program
In addition to the Toy Drive, we are very pleased to announce that this holiday season, the Atherton Department of Police (APD), in partnership with Las Lomitas, Encinal, and Laurel Elementary Schools, will be participating in the holiday “Shop with a Cop” program.
“Shop With A Cop” is one of the ways we strive to strengthen our community relationships and outreach to students who can really benefit from a mentoring experience with our police officers. The APD strives to make this a positive experience for the students and their families. Children in need are able to shop with an officer and purchase gifts for Christmas, including ones for themselves as well as other family members.
The “Shop With A Cop” event will occur on Dec. 19th, from 9:00 am – 11:00 am, at the Target Store in Redwood City. Each school will coordinate with parent drivers/chaperones who will meet our officers and staff at Target.
We are very excited about this program and plan to make it an annual tradition. In addition, we are already planning and coordinating a “Shop with a Cop” back to school event to help those students and families in need to buy back to school supplies, clothes, and shoes.
If you have any questions or need any additional information, please contact Officer KC MacDonald, our School Resource Officer.
The more money we receive for the “Shop with a Cop” program the more kids we can help this holiday season. If you would like to make a tax deductible donation, checks can be made out to the “Atherton Police Activities League” or the "Atherton Police Officers Association” and dropped off at the Police Department or mailed to the Police Department, attention Jennifer Frew, at 83 Ashfield Road, Atherton, CA, 94027.
If you have any questions or need any additional information, please contact Jennifer Frew at 650-688-6500 or email at JFrew@ci.atherton.ca.us.
