Council Meeting

The Council meets this Wednesday, October 17 at 7:00 p.m. for their regular meeting in the Council Chambers - AGENDA

Atherton Library is on the move....

Exciting plans are underway for the much-anticipated new Atherton Library Project.  On August 17, Atherton Town Council approved city staff to move forward with preparing a bid package to demolish and abate the current Atherton Library in November.  In preparation of this work, the Library will close on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 5pm and reopen in a new temporary space on Monday, October 22, 2018, at 10am

Library staff will move out of the Library and into a 2,880 sq. ft. modular building that sits on the current site.  All checked out materials due during the closure will be automatically extended.

The temporary Atherton Library will offer public access computers, bestselling fiction and non-fiction, DVDs, a small children’s collection, and patron reserves. It will also feature a small outdoor reading area, Wi-Fi, photocopier, printer, self-checkout, and 3D printing services. Library programming and events will take place at schools, Holbrook-Palmer Park and other venues in Town.

The Atherton Library Project is a collaborative effort between San Mateo County Libraries and the Town of Atherton. Patrons can expect the new Library to include flexible, blended, multi-use spaces which can be readily adapted. Plans include a dedicated quiet reading area, expanded children’s area, multiple meeting rooms, a makerspace and much more.

Haunted House in the Library

As soon as the library moves out, students from the Leadership Class at Menlo-Atherton High School will begin designing and building a Haunted House in the empty library space at 2 Dinkelspiel Lane.....

It's that time of year again! The Town will be having a Halloween Event full of fun, treats, and friendly fright! Join us on Friday, October 26 from 3pm - 6pm. The event will feature a Halloween jumpy house, balloon twisting, a costume contest with prizes, delicious treats, and Mister Softee's soft-serve ice cream for purchase! The haunted house is intended for children ages 6-12 years old. Children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult. Bring your best costume and get ready for another exciting Town event!

Committee Vacancies....

The Town normally recruits annually for vacancies on its Committees, but recently two of our Committees have vacancies due to members relocating out of Town.

The Town is accepting applications for one vacancy on the Park & Recreation Committee and one vacancy on the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee. To apply for one of the vacancies fill out an application HERE or contact me for more details.
