Atherton Citizens Academy

Applications are now available for the winter, 2018 session of Atherton’s annual community engagement program, ACE 2018 (Atherton Citizen’s Engagement). The deadline to submit an application is Friday, September 28, 2018. Registration Forms are available online at www.ci.atherton.ca.us/ACE2018, or by calling Jennifer Frew at 650-752-0503 or by email at jfrew@ci.atherton.ca.us. Enrollment is limited to 20 participants, who will be randomly selected from all registration forms. This program is free.

This 4-day session community academy provides an overview of the management and governance of the Town of Atherton and its services, while aiding in building relationships that will strengthen our entire community. ACE will take place on the following days/times:

Thursday, October 25, from 6 – 9 pm (Council, Administration, Library)
Saturday, October 27, from 9am- 5pm (Police)
Sunday, October 28, from 9am- 5pm (Police & Fire)
Thursday, November 1, 6 – 9pm (Building, Planning, Public Works)

At each session, participants will take part in interesting and fun activities illustrating how the Town’s various operations function, and meet and talk with Town staff and City Councilmembers.

It’s a great opportunity to get an “insider's” view of the Town, become more knowledgeable about how the Town works, and help to build and strengthen the communication, bonds, and relationships that make Atherton such a wonderful community.

The objectives of ACE 2018 are to involve and engage people in learning about and understanding the operations of local city government, and to improve communication between the Town and those who live here. Participants will learn about how decisions are made, how funds are allocated, what services our police offer, and how departments operate with each other. Participants will also get an opportunity to sit down with Councilmembers to discuss issues and concerns, and plans for shaping the future of our Town.
