Holiday Season Burglary Prevention Message

Atherton Police Department News & Information

Thieves and burglars know people are shopping for and accumulating merchandise in their homes to help make their holiday celebration special.  Making time to practice crime prevention strategies should be part of your holiday preparations to help keep your season bright. Always remove valuables from your vehicles and keep your vehicle locked, no matter where it is parked or how long you will be leaving it unattended. If you cannot remove valuables from the vehicle, keep them out of sight from prying eyes. Keep the area around your home well-lit and easily seen. Thieves go to great lengths to avoid being seen as they work to steal your things.

Making it as difficult as possible to hide around your vehicles or residences will deter thieves. Secure your home with quality deadbolts on all entrances and keep them locked when you are away. Pay special attention to doors into your homes that are not visible from the road or a neighbor’s residence. Burglars often look for these entrances to break into your home without being noticed. Consider installing an alarm system and having it monitored for free by our Police Dispatch Center. To learn more visit the Seasonal Burglary Prevention message by clicking here.

May your holiday season be a joyous and safe time for you and your family.  From all of us at the Atherton Department of Police, Happy Holidays!

Steven D McCulley, Chief of Police

Caltrain Construction Updates - December 18 to December 24, 2021

Atherton
No work is anticipated this week in Atherton.

Menlo Park
On December 18 to December 24, Caltrain will be working during the night to install equipment on poles. Night work hours will be from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

During work hours at the Menlo Park station all passengers will board and de-board from the same platforms. Please look for the signs to indicate which platform to use. If you have any questions, feel free to call Caltrain Customer Service at 1.800.660.4287.

Caltrain Electrification
Caltrain Electrification is a key component of the Caltrain Modernization program which will electrify the Caltrain Corridor from San Francisco's 4th and King Caltrain Station to approximately the Tamien Caltrain Station.

The primary purpose of Caltrain Electrification is to improve Caltrain system performance, reduce long-term environmental impact by reducing noise, improving regional air quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. An electrified Caltrain system would better address Peninsula commuters' vision of increased service and improved travel times in an environmentally friendly and reliable way. This also is expected to help accommodate increase system ridership through improved system operations.

For information on upcoming community construction update meetings, please visit the Caltrain Electrification Project events page at www.CalMod.org/Events.
Happy Holiday
