The health and safety of all residents and students in Atherton is our highest priority. We are all concerned about the spread of COVID-19 and we want to minimize the likelihood that we get it or that it gets spread in our community. I want to assure you that Atherton is watching this closely and taking action to address the situation. We need to work together to ensure everyone’s well-being during this public health crisis. Accordingly, we suggest the following:
What To Do If You Think You’re Sick:
STAY HOME: While you might consider going out when you have a light common cold, DON’T DO IT DURING THIS CRISIS. PLEASE STAY HOME. THIS IS CRITICAL.
CALL AHEAD: If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or may have had contact with a person with COVID, call your health care provider before seeking medical care so that appropriate precautions can be taken.
How To Protect Yourself and Your Family:
Everyone has a role to play. So much of protecting yourself and your family comes down to common sense:
Washing hands with soap and water for as long as it takes to sing Happy Birthday.
Avoiding touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
Avoiding contact with people who are sick.
Staying away from work, school or other people if you become sick with any respiratory symptoms, especially fever and cough.
Follow the guidance from public health officials.
Protecting Our Schools:
Atherton’s population doubles every school day because of the number of students at our 8 schools. Here is the State of California guidance for our schools: (PDF) guidance for schools.
