On May 24, 2021 at approximately 12:50pm, a male subject was seen indecently exposing himself while inside of a vehicle at the intersection of Encinal Avenue and Middlefield Road in Atherton, California. This behavior was committed in front of an 11-year old female student on her way home from school.
The Atherton Police Department conducted an investigation on this incident using various resources, including residential security cameras, Town of Atherton FLOCK Cameras, consultation with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department on similar incidents, and GPS data from the California Department of Corrections.
On June 14, 2021, officers from the Atherton Police Department arrested Jose Manuel Salazar Camacho (DOB: 12-11-1984), a Mountain View, California resident, on two (2) $25,000 arrest warrants. The first arrest warrant was for the Town of Atherton incident, and the second arrest warrant was for a similar San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department incident which occurred in Half Moon Bay, California.
Jose Manuel Salazar Camacho was on GPS Parole and was required to register yearly as a Sex Registrant under California Penal Code section 290. Jose Manuel Salazar Camacho had been registering on a timely basis with the Mountain View Police Department, the Law Enforcement Agency of his residence.

- Vary your route home. Do not take the same route every day.
- If you feel you are being followed, go to a safe location where plenty of people are present (school, gas station, shopping center, etc).
