Public and Private Event Limits
On March 14, 2020 the County Health Officer Dr. Scott Morrow issued an update regarding the legal order prohibiting mass gatherings. Public and Private Gatherings of groups of 50 or more persons are now prohibited in San Mateo County. This order is effective until April 6, but may be extended. Details of this Order are available here. The Town will notify all currently planned Park events and all known Special Events throughout the community at private facilities that will occur through April 30. All events that occur prior to April 6 with planned attendance greater than 50 will be canceled pursuant to the Order. All events occurring after April 6 will be advised that they should plan for cancellation or postponement as the requirements of the Order may be extended.
A secondary part of there Order gatherings of fewer than 50 persons are prohibited unless hosts or sponsors implement all of the COVID-19 risk mitigation measures. These mitigation measures are:
- The space in which the gathering is held must accommodate social distancing by allowing all attendees to stand or sit a least 6 feet from any other attendee.
- Proper hand hygiene and sanitation materials must be readily available to all persons at all times, including soap and waste receptacles. If stop and water are not available, alcohol-based hand sanitizer can be used.
- Persons hosting gatherings must alert prospective attendees at least 24 hours prior to the gathering that gatherings pose a heightened risk of COVID-19 transmission, and that older adults and individuals with existing health conditions are at particularly serious risk if they contract COVID-19 and should not attend.
- Persons hosting gatherings must clean surfaces with disinfecting wipes or other standard cleaners before, during and after the event.
