After further investigation, the Atherton Police Department has determined that this was an actual burglary, not an attempt, as was described in the previous Newsflash.
On Feb 24, 2016, between 8:30 AM and 11:30 AM, a burglary occurred in the 100 block of Burns Avenue. The suspect(s) used an unknown object to break a door window adjacent to a deadbolt lock. The door was located to the rear of the residence, behind a fence. The victim reported the following items stolen: iPad, purse, pearls, camera, and silver tea spoons.
Many burglaries happen during the day, when residents are out of the house. Reporting suspicious vehicles and people in the neighborhood can help the Police Department prevent these crimes. Using an alarm system, too, can help deter burglaries. Anyone with information about this attempted burglary should contact the Atherton Police Department at 650-688-6500.
