Streets

The Public Works Department is responsible for the overall planning, maintenance, operation, and improvement of public infrastructure, including streets, storm drainage, parks, and all town owned buildings and facilities.

The department also provides engineering services and project management for a majority of the town's annual Capital Improvement Program. In partnering with the community, our goal is to provide cost-effective, proactive services for a public infrastructure and facilities in a personal, responsive, and innovative manner.

Street Sweeping

Broom

The Town's Municipal Regional Permit with the State of California Regional Water Quality Control Board requires that we sweep all streets with curb and/or gutters on a monthly basis. About 17.03 miles of Town streets are swept monthly.

In addition, the Town sweeps another 92.97 miles of streets (those without curbs or gutters) on a quarterly basis. The time of year that the streets are swept on a quarterly basis is dependent upon conditions and varies quarter to quarter.

Typically, the frequency coincides with a sweep just prior to leaf drop (late October-November), again in December/January, a third time in February/March, and the last in April/May.
