Earth Day Celebration

This event coincides with our annual E-Scrap, Shred and Compost Giveaway!

Please join us for our 2017 Atherton Earth Day celebration starting at 10 A.M. on and ending at 1 P.M. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Town Center (Ashfield Road and Dinkelspiel Station Lane). The Town’s Environmental Programs Committee, Recology and the Atherton Library are teaming up to bring you: free garden mulch, e-waste safe recycling, secure shredding, eco-friendly 3-D printing, the San Mateo County Bookmobile, free yoga class through the library, earth friendly planting, family friendly experiments, our ever popular Student Challenge, and much more. All local high school students are welcome to give presentations on environmental issues, and can sign up to participate by completing the application found at:

The Student Challenge is juried with prizes and awards for participants.

ReThink Waste & Recology's Earth Day Celebration

RethinkWaste, in collaboration with Recology San Mateo County and South Bay Recycling, will be hosting its sixth annual “Earth Day@Shoreway” event on Saturday, April
8th from 10 am to 1 pm
at the Shoreway Environmental Center, 333 Shoreway Road, San Carlos.

The free family event will feature a compost giveaway, arts & crafts, tours, booths, raffles, and more! The winners of RethinkWaste’s fifth annual “Trash to Art” Contest, which was open to all 3rd through 5th grade classes and individuals in the RethinkWaste service area, will also be recognized during the
Earth Day event. The art pieces will be on display, for everyone’s enjoyment.

Exhibitors and vendors that will be at the event include Face Painting by Lisa, Peopleologie, San Mateo County Office of Sustainability, Nob Hill Pizza, Reach & Teach, San Mateo and more!

The free compost is for residents only, no commercial customers, while supplies last. Paper bags and shovels will be provided for attendees to use, or they may bring their own containers.
