Welcome New Employees

The Town is pleased to announce the hiring of two new employees to the Atherton Police Department; Code Enforcement and Community Services Officer Monica Diaz, and Police Officer Todd Carpenter.  Monica and Todd will begin employment with the Town of Atherton on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, and will be formally introduced to the Town and City Council on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 7:00 p.m..

Monica Diaz's work in the public sector started while she was a Junior in high school in California's Central Valley where she completed a summer internship with the City of Madera’s Finance Department.  At the end of the internship, she was offered a part time position in finance where she worked after school during the week.  It was there that she first began to learn the inner workings, responsibilities and challenges of local government.  Monica has since held several positions within the City of Madera where her passion for local government has grown and evolved.

Officer Todd Carpenter grew up in San Jose, California.  He attended West Valley junior college where he obtained an A.S. Degree in Criminal Justice.  Todd joined the U.S. Army and served one tour of duty while assigned to an Infantry unit.  He joined the San Jose Police Department and worked a variety of special assignments such as the Narcotics Enforcement Team and the MERGE Unit (SWAT) before being promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  He also has experience in the Traffic Enforcement Unit and worked as a Motorcycle Sergeant.

We are pleased to welcome Monica and Todd to Atherton.
