Atherton Committees

The voluntary participation of Atherton's citizens in the operation of the Town government is critical to the City Council's and the Town staff's success in serving the community. The City Council has established several citizen advisory bodies composed mainly of volunteers.

In early March the Town will begin annual recruitment for its citizen advisory bodies.

Volunteers to specific bodies are appointed by the City Council and charged with the responsibilities of gathering, synthesizing, and analyzing the information relevant to their areas of responsibility and providing the City Council and Town staff with advice and recommendations. The Council and staff rely on this advice for the development and execution of Town policies.

Be on the lookout for the opening of annual recruitment in early March. For now, take a look at the revamped Committees and Commission page for more information.

HeartSafe Program

Yesterday Town staff received AED training
from the Sequoia Healthcare District.

Through its HeartSafe Program, the District has trained or arranged the training of thousands of residents and those working within the District in CPR. Training this life saving technique will be the major focus of the HeartSafe program over the next few years.

The HeartSafe program has placed over 340 defibrillators throughout southern San Mateo County in such locations as police and sheriff vehicles, parks, schools, community centers and public buildings. Through the extraordinary collaborations with local fire departments and American Heart Association certified CPR instructors, the District has trained thousands of community members in CPR and AED use. To date, a number of community member’s lives have been saved through the placement of these defibrillators.

The District offers free training on CPR and defibrillator courses in their Redwood City office.  Check dates and register here.

For more information about the program visit their website by clicking here.
